**Updates**

It's been a while since I've had the chance to sit down and blog, so I wanted to give everyone who reads an update!  Before I get started, I want to congratulate my fellow competitor from the U.S. Beauties Pageant, Katie Maskey on her new title as Mrs. Midwest Galaxy.  It's great to win a crown, but when the reign is over, I feel so blessed that I will have a friend like Katie - she is one awesome woman.

I have a number of appearances that need to be posted, but I will at least list them to help myself keep things straight, as well as let everyone know what I've been up to.

Appearances:

American Heart Association Silent Auction
Toledo Walleye Hockey Game (Mrs. Great Lakes U.S. Beauties, Pam Diehl sang the national anthem).
Bowl for Kids' Sake - Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Northwest Ohio
Dream Girls USA Pageant in Grand Rapids, MI - Judge
Hearts for Harrison Charity Event
Sunburst Pageant in Romulus, MI - Judge
Born to Run 5K - Sacred Heart Church, Grosse Ile, MI
Miss Mudhens event - Toledo, OH

Now I just have to get the pictures up.  My computer got a virus so I couldn't get on the internet, but I just got a new MacBook, so I should be back in business!!!

Love you all <3

The Results are in.....

And I WON!! I am your new Miss Michigan U.S. Beauties 2011 and I couldn't be more honored to represent such an amazing organization that prides itself on celebrating the success of the modern woman.

Here's a breakdown of the weekend that lead to the crown!

Friday, January 21: Meet and greet from 5pm-9pm

Saturday, January 22: Practice ALL DAY starting with breakfast at 8am and practicing until 4pm. The evening ended with a nice, relaxing dinner from 6pm-10pm, then it was off to bed to get some beauty rest for the big day!!

Sunday, January 23: PAGEANT DAY!!! Practice from 10-12, lunch, then interviews beginning at 2pm. At 6pm sharp, opening number begins. You could feel the excited tension everywhere, but we all came together to support and cheer each other on.

At approximately 8pm, I was crowned the new Miss Michigan U.S. Beauties 2011. With tons of family and friends in the audience, I could not have been more proud and honestly surprised. Jasmine and Kristen were exemplory examples of the successful modern day women, and I am so gracious to the judges for seeing the potential and the drive inside of me. I am looking forward to the exciting places and extraordinary people that the U.S. Beauties organization has now allowed me the opportunity to experience.

Fashion in Detroit 2010

Check out my pic with Mark on StyleLine Magazine's website for Fashion in Detroit 2010 - my first fashion show ever! Did I mention I won an awesome gift basket from StyleLine complete with Starbucks coffee, a large mug (my favorite), a French press coffee maker, rock candy, a free issue of StyleLine and Godiva chocolates. I was in complete awe of the designers and their clothing - a truly inspirational experience!!!

North American International Auto Show - COBO Center, Detroit, Michigan

On my way to the U.S. Beauties Pageant, I had to stop at the NAIAS being held at the COBO Center in Detroit. It was my first time visiting the auto show, but I think I already found my new favorite car...

I also found it humerous that everyone thinks you're Miss America when you put a crown on your head, but it gave me plenty of opportunities to talk about the U.S. Beauties organization!

Habitat for Humanity

This is me volunteering at the Habitat for Humanity Re-Store. The Re-Store is open to the public and offers home furnishings and supplies at a discounted rate. It is also a great place to donate any unwanted items such as couches, cabinets, or even toys. The Re-Store is just another way in which Habitat for Humanity gives back to the community each and every day. It was an honor to work with such wonderful people...and yes, I had a great time working the cash register!
